XRF analysis was done on the pieces of clay vessels found in the Myntobe cemetery

In 2022, the parts of clay vessels found during the archaeological excavations in the Myntobe burial ground were studied by archaeometric methods. The color of the ceramics was determined by a digital colorimeter and the thickness of the ceramics was determined by a digital thickness meter. In the course of archaeometric studies, the petrographic properties of the samples were analyzed by optical microscopy in thin sections, and polarized energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (PED-XRF) and SEM-EDX examinations were performed and analyzed in order to determine the chemical composition of the samples.

Archaeometric research on pottery samples from Myntobe burial ground was carried out at Ankara Haji Bayram Veli University, Faculty of Arts, Department of Cultural Heritage Preservation and Restoration, Historical Materials Research and Conservation Laboratory (MAKLAB), “REDEVIO AR-GE Bilgi ve Operasyon Teknolojileri” affiliated to the said university. ” laboratory and Ankara University Earth Sciences Application and Research Center (YEBİM) laboratories. In addition, SEM-EDX examination of ceramic samples was conducted at Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (AYBU MERLAB).
