THE AIM OF THE PROJECT

Is to conduct excavations at the graves of Myntobe and Karatobe in the lower reaches of the Keles River, to determine the burial traditions, material values, composition and dates of objects; to conduct anthropological studies, to determine the morphological features of skeletons, gender, age, health status; to clarify the connections of skeletons lying in one grave by performing archaeogenetic samples of skeletons.

The implementation of the project will allow to determine the features of the structure, timing, burial traditions, social status of the population, relations with neighboring regions, genetic connections, morphological features of those buried in one grave or two separate graves. If the project is successfully implemented, it will contribute to the development of Kazakhstan’s archaeology, solving problematic issues of its history, and further improving the national culture and national consciousness.This is one of the tasks reflected in the program” looking to the future: modernization of public consciousness”. In addition, on November 23, 2021, the head of state appealed the youth and said: “We are the descendants of great nomads with deep roots. We are a unique people with a rich spiritual and cultural heritage. Today, in order to be competitive in the global world, we need a unique national character and a high spirit. Such qualities come from knowledge of history, knowledge of cultural values,” he stressed the importance of our common cultural values.Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted at the informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states in 2021 that the Turkestan city has not been fully studied from an archaeological point of view. In addition, he noted that conducting archaeological research in the Turkestan region will be a reasonable action. And in the list of national projects approved on October 7, 2021, the project “Ulttyk Ruhani zhangyru” was included. Therefore, the proposed project also corresponds to the development strategy of the state.

In the course of the work, along with traditional methods of Archaeology, interdisciplinary research is carried out. In particular, it is planned to rely on Natural Sciences and computer technologies. In order to determine the morphological characteristics of the indigenous population in the excavated area, anthropological, archaeogenetic samples to determine their kinship, microbiological samples to determine their Disease, X-ray fluorescent analysis (XRF) to determine the composition of Natural data, as well as radiocarbon samples of organic finds to determine the age of the monument will be carried out.

During the implementation of the project, research will be carried out in the graves of Myntobe and Karatobe, architectural features and dates of burial sites will be determined, the kinship of the region will be compared, not to mention the data from one burial site, the data from other burial sites will be determined, the economic relations of the population with neighboring countries and social status will be clarified. Archaeological materials are analyzed, processed and analyzed using modern research methods. The expositions of museums will be supplemented with artifacts.
